چکیده

A practical medium for reducing costs and enhancing both biomass and intracellular polysaccharide (IPS) production by a newly screened Agaricus blazei AB003 has been selected. The results show that IPS production was growth-associated, that a combination of corn flour extract and glucose was the best carbon source, and that a combination of wheat bran extract and yeast extract was the best nitrogen source for both biomass and IPS production. The effects of the four factors were further investigated using four-factor, three-level orthogonal test design. The best combination for the production of biomass and IPS was (in g/L): corn flour extract 15, glucose 6, yeast extract 3, and wheat bran extract 6. The maximum biomass and IPS in a 30-litre stirred tank bioreactor reached 11.30 and 0.72 g/L in the optimized medium, respectively. The use of two low-cost raw materials like corn flour and wheat bran extract as the major medium constituents could reduce the costs of biomass and IPS production.

The Protective Effect of Agaricus blazei Murrill, Submerged Culture Using the Optimized Medium Composition, on Alcohol-Induced Liver Injury

Agaricus blazei Murrill (ABM), an edible mushroom native to Brazil, is widely used for nonprescript and medicinal purposes. Alcohol liver disease (ALD) is considered as a leading cause for a liver injury in modern dietary life, which can be developed by a prolonged or large intake of alcohol. In this study, the medium composition of ABM was optimized using response surface methodology for maxim...

Mycelium and polysaccharide production of Agaricus blazei Murrill by submerged fermentation.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Over the last decade, Agaricus blazei Murrill has been studied and developed as a novel functional food in Japan, Korea, China, and Taiwan. Due to the low yields, the fruiting bodies of A. blazei Murrill are relatively expensive, and a cheap and stable source of A. blazei Murrill mycelium for commercial purposes is highly desirable. Culture media and conditions were inves...

Effect of different compounds on the induction of laccase production by Agaricus blazei.

Laccases are polyphenol oxidases produced by many fungi and have many applications in textile, food and beverage, and pulp and paper industries. Laccase production can be induced using aromatic or phenolic compounds that mostly affect the transcription of laccase-encoding genes. In this study, we analyzed laccase and biomass production by Agaricus blazei in the presence of different concentrati...

Agaricus blazei Murill enhances doxorubicin-induced apoptosis in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells by NFκB-mediated increase of intracellular doxorubicin accumulation.

It has been demonstrated that the Agaricus blazei Murill (ABM) mushroom, which primarily consists of polysaccharides, possesses anti-tumor activities. However, the mechanisms by which ABM inhibits human hepatocellular carcinoma growth remain unknown. Our study demonstrates that ABM acts as an enhancer to sensitize doxorubicin (Dox)-mediated apoptotic signaling, and this sensitization can be ach...
